❤️ Nature & Soul
Jellybean was curious, busy, and had unique preferences. He was active and enjoyed exploring. He showed a form of trust by allowing us to watch him sort his treasures. His personality was quirky and creative—a hamster who saw value in things beyond the edible, who curated his environment with a bizarre and delightful sense of style.
⭐ Special Memory
Jellybean had a particular fondness for anything sparkly or brightly colored. We once gave him a small, safe plastic star from a craft store. It was gold and glittery. He didn't chew it or ignore it. He carefully picked it up in his mouth, carried it to his main nest, and placed it right in the center of his food hoard, like a crown jewel. He would often move it to different positions, as if arranging his display. It was his prized possession, more valuable than any seed.
🐾 Favorite Things
Colorful plastic beads, glittery stars, bright toys, aesthetic arrangements, special caches, artistic hoarding

Honoring a hamster whose hoard was a colorful assortment, not just of food, but of small, bright toys and beads he deemed valuable.

Jellybean, a Campbell's dwarf hamster with a reddish-brown coat, had an eye for color. His hoard wasn't just about nutrition; it was about aesthetics. We gave him small, plastic 'bird toys'—colorful beads and shapes on a string (with the string removed for safety). He would immediately separate the bright red and blue beads from his food mix and add them to a special cache. His hoard was a glittering treasure trove of seeds, pellets, and colorful junk. He seemed to take genuine pleasure in arranging it. Cleaning his cage felt like robbing a tiny, eccentric art collector.
