❤️ Nature & Soul
Marshmallow was cautious, gentle, and ultimately very sweet. She was a creature who valued her space and routine. She was fastidiously clean. She showed trust gradually: first taking treats, then allowing pets, then seeking out interaction. Her personality was like a rare flower that blooms only under the right conditions—those who were patient and respectful were rewarded with a unique, delicate beauty and affection.
⭐ Special Memory
The breakthrough moment with Marshmallow came after about eight months. She had always taken rose hips from my hand, but one evening, after eating one, instead of hopping away, she stayed on my knee. She turned around, looked at me, and then slowly, deliberately, leaned her forehead against my hand. She wanted to be scratched. It was the first time she had initiated contact. That small gesture of trust, after so much patience, felt like winning the lottery. From then on, she would often seek out scratches.
🐾 Favorite Things
Rose hip treats, private dust baths, knee sitting, slow trust-building, gentle scratches, reserved affection

No Reminder

Remembering a chinchilla whose incredibly dense, white fur hid a initially shy but eventually deeply affectionate heart.

Marshmallow was a white mosaic chinchilla, a cloud with eyes and ears. She was shy for the first year, often hiding when approached. But with infinite patience and bribery with rose hips, she blossomed. She began to enjoy scratches, leaning into them with eyes closed. She never became a cuddler, but she would hop onto a knee and sit for treats. Her dust baths were a private affair; she preferred to take them when the room was quiet and empty. Earning her trust was a slow, rewarding journey. Her cage, once her fortress, became a home she shared with us on her terms.
