❤️ Nature & Soul
Skitter was alert, inquisitive, and lived at a different tempo than the world around him. He was clean and had specific habits. He showed a form of trust by not freezing or hiding when we observed him, and by taking treats from a dish while we were near. His personality was that of a tiny, furry scientist—constantly gathering information, testing hypotheses, and moving on to the next experiment at breakneck speed.
⭐ Special Memory
We set up a miniature 'obstacle course' in a dry bathtub for Skitter's playtime. It had bridges, tunnels, and little ramps. He didn't navigate it slowly; he attacked it. He would zip through the tunnel, sprint across the bridge, scramble up the ramp, pause at the top to survey, and then zoom back down to start again. His speed and precision were astonishing. It was like watching a tiny, furry parkour champion. He seemed to love the challenge, repeating the circuit over and over until he was tired.
🐾 Favorite Things
Foraging toys, obstacle courses, different types of sand, chew toy investigations, high-speed dashes, environmental scanning

Honoring a Roborovski hamster whose speed was not just for running, but for investigating every new scent, object, and sound in his environment.

Skitter was a tiny, beige bullet of curiosity. As a Robo hamster, his speed was legendary, but he used it for exploration, not escape. When something new entered his tank—a different chew toy, a new type of sand—he would approach in a series of lightning-fast dashes and pauses, sniffing intensely. He could empty a foraging toy of its seeds in seconds. His life was a high-speed scan of his surroundings, a constant data-gathering mission. He was too fast to hold safely for long, so our bond was built on watching him live his best, fastest life. The tank is motionless now, its resident detective retired.
