❤️ Nature & Soul
Pumpkin was the definition of mellow. He was gentle, patient, and utterly unflappable. He got along with everyone, human and guinea pig alike. He showed affection by falling asleep on laps and by making his purring rumble when petted. His personality was like a warm, fuzzy weighted blanket—simple, comforting, and deeply therapeutic. He didn't need to do tricks or be flashy; his value was in his sheer, soothing presence.
⭐ Special Memory
Pumpkin had a special tradition: Halloween. Every October 31st, we would give him a small plate of his favorite fall veggies: a slice of pumpkin (of course), some sweet potato, and a bit of corn husk. He would approach it with solemn delight, eat slowly and thoroughly, and then take a long, contented nap. We have a series of pictures over the years of 'Pumpkin on Pumpkin Day,' a round orange guinea pig next to a slice of orange squash. It was a silly, sweet tradition that celebrated his name and his love of food.
🐾 Favorite Things
Pumpkin slices, sweet potato treats, corn husk nibbling, lap sitting, slow waddling, gentle petting

No Reminder

Remembering a guinea pig whose round shape and serene demeanor made him a living, breathing embodiment of autumn comfort.

Pumpkin was perfectly named. An orange roan guinea pig with a stout, round body, he resembled his namesake vegetable. His movement was a slow, deliberate waddle. His philosophy was simple: eat, sleep, be petted. He rarely popcorned or zoomied; his excitement was expressed through a deep, contented purr and a slight wiggle when he saw his favorite greens. He was a lap guinea pig par excellence, happy to sit for an hour, a warm, heavy, purring blanket. His presence lowered blood pressure. His cage was less a playground and more a dining room/bedroom suite, and he was its satisfied, rotund proprietor.
