❤️ Nature & Soul
Waffles was dramatic, affectionate, and a creature of profound habit. He loved being brushed, sitting regally through his grooming sessions. He was social with his humans, wheeking for attention as well as food. He showed affection by nuzzling hands and by making soft, purring sounds when petted. His personality was large and charismatic—he knew he was beautiful and beloved, and he performed his role as the vocal, hairy center of attention with gusto.
⭐ Special Memory
Waffles had a hilarious rivalry with the Roomba. When it ran, he would stand at the edge of his cage, pressed against the bars, and 'wheek' at it aggressively, as if scolding the intruder. One day, a piece of cilantro fell from his cage just as the Roomba passed by. The machine sucked it up. Waffles let out a squeak of outrage so profound we had to stop the Roomba and return his green treasure. From then on, we scheduled cleaning around his snack time. His indignation was both comic and deeply felt.
🐾 Favorite Things
Regular grooming sessions, cilantro treats, vocal wheeking, scheduled feeding times, being the center of attention, soft bedding

No Reminder

Remembering a guinea pig whose enthusiastic 'wheeking' was our daily alarm clock, a vocal, lovable potato who believed breakfast should be served precisely on time.

Waffles, a Peruvian guinea pig with absurdly long, silky hair that required regular grooming, was our maestro of mealtime. His internal clock was flawless. At 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, without fail, the symphony would begin: first a tentative, high-pitched 'wheek?', then, if the refrigerator didn't open immediately, it would crescendo into a full-blown, earsplitting chorus of 'WHEEK-WHEEK-WHEEK!' that could be heard throughout the house. It was a sound of pure, demanding optimism. Once fed, he would settle into a contented munching, his long hair flowing around him like a robe. The predictable, joyful noise of his demands has been replaced by a silence that makes mornings feel strangely incomplete.
