❤️ Nature & Soul
Cocoa was a gentle, introverted soul. She was not bold or acrobatic like Pip, but she had a deep, quiet creativity. She was fastidious about her nest, often rearranging it. She showed trust by taking food from our fingers and by not fleeing when we approached her cage to watch her work. Her personality was soft and domestic—the epitome of creating a safe, warm haven. She reminded us that happiness can be found in the simple, repeated act of making a home.
⭐ Special Memory
We started giving Cocoa different materials for her nest to see what she preferred. We'd offer strips of fleece, shredded paper, cotton batting (safe), and plain toilet paper. Without fail, she always chose the plain, unscented toilet paper. She would pull an entire sheet into her house, shred it meticulously, and create a fluffy, white cloud of a nest. It was her signature. We have photos of her peeking out from a mound of pure white, her dark eyes and brown fur the only color. It was her perfect, simple comfort.
🐾 Favorite Things
Unscented toilet paper for nesting, soft fabric scraps, cozy hideouts, gentle handling, quiet observation, warm sleeping spots

Honoring a mouse whose life was a testament to cozy comforts, building the softest, most intricate nests from whatever materials she deemed worthy.

Cocoa was a domestic mouse with rich, brown fur and a passion for interior design. Her cage was her studio, and her medium was anything soft. Toilet paper, tissues, nesting fluff, fabric scraps—she would gather them in her mouth, drag them to her chosen hideout, and weave them into a perfect, round, impenetrably soft nest. She would then curl in the center, a tiny, warm knot of contentment. She was shy but sweet, taking treats gently. Her life was a quiet cycle of nest-building, grooming, eating, and sleeping in her perfect creation. The cage is clean and bare now, missing the beautiful, messy, labor-of-love nest that was her masterpiece and her home.
