Vortex's Spiraling Calm
FeaturedLife Details
Remembering a ball python whose coils were a living labyrinth, whose quiet power drew you into a state of peaceful focus.
Vortex had a pattern that seemed to swirl, drawing the eye inward. When he coiled, he often did so in a perfect spiral. Handling him was an exercise in mindfulness—you had to move at his pace, respect his space. He would often choose to rest with his head tucked under a loop of his own body, a picture of secure contentment. His feeding strikes were swift and decisive, followed by patient constriction. The air in the room felt stiller with him in it. His hide is just an empty dome now, missing the beautiful, spiraling snake who found peace within.
