❤️ Nature & Soul
Mirage was not a 'cuddly' pet; he was a wonder to observe. He was intelligent, learning his feeding schedule and coming to the front of his cage when hungry. He was territorial, puffing up and hissing if approached too quickly. He showed a form of trust by not stressing when we were in his space for maintenance. His personality was one of intense, focused awareness—a solitary hunter whose every move was calculated.
⭐ Special Memory
The most incredible thing was watching Mirage drink. He wouldn't drink from a bowl; he needed moving water. We used a dripper. He would watch a droplet form on the leaf, track it with one eye, and then, when it fell, his tongue would shoot out with pinpoint accuracy and catch the droplet in mid-air. It was a breathtaking display of precision and specialized adaptation. We could watch him 'shoot' water droplets for hours.
🐾 Favorite Things
Leaf swaying, independent eye movement, dripper drinking, cricket catching

Honoring a chameleon whose color changes were a slow magic, whose swiveling, independent eyes saw a world we could only imagine.

Mirage was patience and perception. A veiled chameleon, his color shifts were subtle and slow—greens and browns blending with his leafy environment. His most fascinating features were his eyes, which moved independently, allowing him to watch a bug on one side and a person on the other simultaneously. His gait was a slow, deliberate sway, mimicking a leaf in the breeze. His tongue shot out to twice his body length to capture crickets. He was a living piece of art, a complex and fascinating creature. His empty, planted terrarium is a beautiful biome, missing its most intricate and watchful inhabitant.
