❤️ Nature & Soul
Onyx was the epitome of calm power. She was confident, never balling up. She was curious, tasting the air to learn about new people and places. She showed trust by relaxing completely when held, becoming a heavy, peaceful presence. Her personality was one of profound serenity. She had a grounding effect, her slow rhythm and cool touch pulling anxiety away from anyone who held her.
⭐ Special Memory
Onyx was a 'therapy snake' for my friend with PTSD. The friend described holding Onyx as incredibly grounding. The snake's steady, strong coils provided a sense of safe containment, her cool temperature was a sensory focal point, and her slow breathing was a rhythm to match. In moments of panic, focusing on Onyx's simple, physical presence could help bring my friend back to the present. It was humbling and beautiful to see our pet provide such profound, nonverbal comfort.
🐾 Favorite Things
Iridescent scales, lap coiling, therapy sessions, patient constriction

Celebrating a ball python whose glossy black scales drank the light, whose calm constriction felt like the safest hug in the world.

Onyx was darkness made soft. Her nearly solid black scales had a subtle iridescence in the right light, like oil on water. She moved with a silent, fluid grace. When she coiled around an arm or rested in a lap, her cool, smooth scales and steady weight had an instantly calming effect. Her feeding strikes were the only sudden thing about her, and even they were followed by serene, patient constriction. The black hide in her enclosure is just an empty cave now, missing the beautiful, dark spirit who found peace within it.
