❤️ Nature & Soul
Shadow was gentle, predictable, and easy to please. She was not a demanding pet, content with her simple life of warmth, food, and security. She was impeccably clean. She showed trust by licking droplets of water from our fingers and by crawling into a warm hand to sleep. Her personality was soft and subtle—a companion whose value was in her serene, undemanding presence.
⭐ Special Memory
Shadow had a hilarious reaction to her reflection. We had a small, mirrored decoration in her tank. Occasionally, she would notice her reflection, stop dead, and then start violently vibrating her tail—a behavior usually reserved for hunting or mating. She'd then slowly stalk the 'intruder,' only to bump her nose on the glass. She never seemed to learn, and this ritual happened every few weeks. It was a silly, endearing display of leopard gecko 'bravery.'
🐾 Favorite Things
Night patrols, mealworm plucking, tail vibrating at mirrors, water dish drinks

No Reminder

A tribute to a leopard gecko whose spotted coat was a map of the night sky, whose gentle, nocturnal presence was a soft comfort in the dark hours.

Shadow was our quiet night watchman. As the house settled, she would begin her rounds: a drink from her water dish, a patrol of her enclosure, maybe a hunt if a cricket remained. Her movements were nearly silent, her spots perfect camouflage in the low light. She had a delicate way of eating, taking mealworms with a soft *pluck*. Her fat, healthy tail was a badge of our care. The soft sound of her walking in her substrate was a comforting white noise as we read or watched TV. Now, the night in her corner is just silence, missing the gentle proof of another life quietly thriving alongside ours.
