❤️ Nature & Soul
Dune was peaceful, docile, and endlessly easy to please. She never refused a meal, never struck defensively, never showed stress. She showed trust by readily emerging when her lid was opened. Her personality was the definition of 'chill.' She provided a unique, quiet friendship based on mutual calm. She was a living reminder that happiness can be found in a warm, dark, quiet place.
⭐ Special Memory
We used a special substrate that held tunnels perfectly. Sometimes, Dune would create a network of tunnels right against the glass, allowing us to see her entire body moving beneath the sand. Watching her navigate her hidden world, her ribs working in waves to push forward, was mesmerizing. It was like having a window into a secret, subterranean life. We could watch for ages, fascinated by her efficient, hidden locomotion.
🐾 Favorite Things
Soft sand, tunnel viewing, loop formation, glacial swallowing

Remembering a sand boa whose life was a secret written in dunes, whose simple, smiling presence was a lesson in contentment.
Dune was joy, buried. Her world was a 40-gallon desert of soft sand, and she was its happy queen. We'd know where she was by a slight mound or the tip of her tail poking out. When she surfaced, her goofy smile was an instant mood-lifter. Feeding time was a comedy of explosive action followed by glacial swallowing. Holding her was profoundly calming; she was cool, smooth, and completely relaxed, often forming a perfect loop in our hands. The sand is undisturbed now, a blank page missing its happy, hidden story.
