📋 A Gentle Beginning
A remembrance of a rabbit whose agouti coloring hid a fiery personality, who reminded us that plain packaging can hold extraordinary contents.
📝 Moments & Memories
Use this space to share your companion’s story in your own words.
You may write about their personality, favorite moments, the bond you shared, or anything you feel captures who they were and what they meant to you. There is no right or wrong way to write this - take your time and speak from the heart.
Cinnamon, an agouti-colored rabbit with banded hairs that shifted color, was well-named. Her exterior was the mixed browns and grays of wild rabbits, but her personality had spice. She was curious, bold, surprisingly sassy for a rabbit. She had opinions and expressed them: a thump if dinner was late, a toss of her food dish if she didn't like what was in it, a deliberate turn of her back if displeased. But her spicy exterior hid deep affection—once she decided she liked you, she was incredibly loyal, following you from room to room and offering gentle nose bonks. She taught us not to judge by appearances, that plain packaging can hold extraordinary contents. We miss the spice she brought to our lives.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Cinnamon was personality plus. When she arrived as a rescue, she was timid. But as she learned safety, her true nature emerged: confident, curious, with clear preferences. She was intelligent and learned routines quickly, expecting them to be followed. She had a sense of humor, often doing things that seemed deliberately amusing, like pushing a ball down the stairs and watching it bounce. She was affectionate on her terms, enjoying petting but only when she initiated it. She formed a strong bond with me, often hopping into my home office and flopping under my desk as I worked. Her personality was indeed spicy—sometimes sweet, sometimes sharp, always interesting.
⭐ Special Memory
Cinnamon's spicy personality was most evident in her 'Food Critic' routine. We tried to give her a variety of fresh greens. She had clear opinions. Kale? Two hops of approval. Spinach? A dismissive turn of the head. Cilantro? The full happy dance—circling, binkying, then gentle nibbles. But the funniest was when we introduced parsley. She took one bite, stopped, looked at us as if offended, then deliberately pushed the remaining parsley out of her dish with her nose. From then on, if we even put parsley near her dish, she would give a single, firm thump of protest. Her clear culinary opinions, expressed so definitively, made us laugh and taught us to pay attention to her preferences—she was a rabbit who knew what she liked.
🐾 Favorite Things
Cinnamon loved rearranging her living space, moving her hidey-house to different locations daily. She adored dandelion greens (from pesticide-free areas) and would do a little 'happy hop' when she saw them. Her favorite thing was having the base of her ears gently scratched
