❤️ Nature & Soul
Cinder was curious, agile, and a true mustelid—playful but with a strong predatory drive. He enjoyed puzzle feeders and toys that moved. He was mostly crepuscular. His personality was one of forest mystery—a creature of deep woods, rarely seen by humans, now living a life where his natural behaviors could be observed and appreciated.
⭐ Special Memory
The most delightful memory is watching him 'play' with a feather on a string. He'd pounce, bat it, do backflips, and carry it around in his mouth, chattering. It triggered his hunting instincts in a safe, fun way. His joy was infectious, a small predator expressing pure, uncomplicated play.
🐾 Favorite Things
Feather toys, tree climbing, puzzle feeders

Remembering a rescued pine marten whose sleek agility and curious nature revealed the life of a forest predator few ever see.
Cinder was an orphaned pine marten kit found after logging destroyed his den tree. He was raised but could not be safely released. We built him a tall, forested enclosure with trees, ropes, and nesting boxes. He was a blur of brown fur and boundless energy, leaping from branch to branch with squirrel-like grace. The enclosure feels empty now, missing the flash of his yellow bib, his chattering vocalizations, and the sight of him peering from a tree hollow with bright, inquisitive eyes.
