❤️ Nature & Soul

Zephyr was confident, agile, and built for vertical living. He had a rough coat and a distinctive beard. He was curious about visitors but maintained a regal distance. His personality was one of alpine toughness—an animal evolved for some of Earth's most challenging terrain, finding a semblance of home on our constructed rocks.

⭐ Special Memory

The most impressive memory is watching him navigate an ice patch we created in winter (for enrichment). He stepped onto the ice without hesitation, his specialized hooves with rough pads and hard edges providing perfect grip. He walked across as easily as on dry ground, a master of his icy, rocky world.

Celebrating a rescued mountain goat kid whose sure-footed climbs and snowy perch brought alpine majesty to our sanctuary.

Zephyr was orphaned on a cliff face after his mother fell, a mountain goat kid rescued by wildlife officials. He was bottle-raised but too habituated for release. We built him a steep, rocky enclosure with cliffs and ledges. His white coat was dense and woolly. He'd stand on the highest, narrowest ledge, perfectly balanced, looking like a part of the mountain itself. The rocky slope is just geology now, missing the click of his sharp hooves on stone, his occasional playful head-butts with the enclosure wall, and his serene gaze from above.
