❤️ Nature & Soul
Glimmer was gentle, tidy, and remarkably beneficial. She'd groom herself like a cat. She wasn't aggressive, using her famous 'playing dead' defense only once when truly frightened. Her personality was one of quiet, misunderstood usefulness. She broke down the caricature of the 'ugly' opossum, revealing a clean, helpful, and unique marsupial just trying to coexist.
⭐ Special Memory
The sweetest memory is of finding her curled in a nest box with a blanket, her head tilted permanently from her injury, fast asleep with her mouth slightly open. She looked so vulnerable and peaceful, a world away from the 'vicious' reputation her species carries. It was a picture that perfectly captured the disconnect between myth and gentle reality.
🐾 Favorite Things
Grapes, nesting materials, climbing branches, tick hunting
🌈 Pet Remembrance Anniversary Reminders
📅 Should we gently remind you by email before your pet’s passing anniversary? We know these dates can be tender. If you wish, we can send you a gentle email reminder before your pet’s passing anniversary.
1 day before

A tribute to a rescued opossum whose nocturnal foraging and surprisingly gentle nature challenged every negative stereotype.

Glimmer was a juvenile Virginia opossum found cold and stunned on a road (playing possum). She recovered but had a neurological tilt to her head. We gave her an enclosure with climbing branches and hiding spots. She'd emerge at night, her pink nose twitching, her prehensile tail feeling its way along branches. Her habit of eating ticks from our property made her a garden hero. The nighttime yard is missing the rustle of her movement in the leaf litter, the sight of her carrying nesting material in her mouth, and her gentle, hiss-free acceptance of fruit offerings.
