❤️ Nature & Soul
Splash was playful, intelligent, and perpetually in motion. He learned to recognize his keepers and would bring them his favorite rocks. He was social, seeking interaction through play. His personality was liquid joy—a creature designed for fun, turning every task (even cleaning his pool) into a game. He was the embodiment of play as a vital force of life.
⭐ Special Memory
The most joyful memory is of his first encounter with a sprinkler hose. We used it to fill his pool. Splash discovered the spray, parked himself under it, rolling on his back, chittering with delight, then sliding through the mud it created. What was a practical chore for us was the best day ever for him. His capacity to find joy in simple things was a masterclass in living.
🐾 Favorite Things
Favorite rocks, sprinkler spray, sliding in mud, swimming loops

Celebrating a rescued river otter whose playful antics and aquatic grace brought laughter and life to a rehabilitation pool.
Splash was an oil-spill survivor, a North American river otter pup cleaned and deemed non-releasable. His pool became the heart of our education center. He'd swim with fluid, joyous loops, then haul out to groom his dense fur meticulously. He'd play with rocks, juggling them in his paws, and build sliding mud banks. The pool is just water now, missing the slick arc of his body diving in, the chittering whistles he'd make when excited, and the pure, infectious delight he took in everything watery and new.
