❤️ Nature & Soul
Ember was clever, curious, and perpetually conflicted between her trust in caregivers and her wild instincts. She'd cache food and dig elaborate 'escape' tunnels that went nowhere. She was most active at dawn and dusk. Her personality was a beautiful, sad tension—a wild animal relying on humans, never quite belonging to either world fully.
⭐ Special Memory
The most poignant memory is of her first snow. She crept out of her shelter, touched the white ground with a tentative paw, then exploded into play—chasing snowflakes, pouncing on drifts, rolling on her back. For those minutes, she was just a young animal experiencing pure joy, free from the complexity of her half-life. It was a gift to witness that unguarded happiness.
🐾 Favorite Things
Digging in soft dirt, chasing leaves, hiding treats, morning gekkering

7 days before

A tribute to a rescued fox kit whose fiery coat and wild spirit could never be fully tamed, but who taught us about wild hearts in captive spaces.

Ember was an orphaned red fox kit, found alone and starving. We raised her with the understanding she could never be fully wild nor fully tame. She had a pen with digging areas and hiding spots. She'd greet us with playful 'gekkering' sounds, bouncing on her front paws. But her eyes always held a distance, a reminder of her wild lineage. The enclosure feels static now, missing her fiery brush tail waving like a flag, the playful pounces on unsuspecting leaves, and the haunting, beautiful sound of her occasional nighttime barks.
