❤️ Nature & Soul
Tundra was tough, cheerful, and remarkably good-natured about weather. He was curious and brave, exploring new trails without hesitation. He had a thick coat that made him look larger in winter, then transformed into a sleek athlete in summer. His personality was like his native landscape—rugged, beautiful, and full of unexpected warmth beneath a cool exterior.
⭐ Special Memory
The most memorable adventure was a multi-day winter trek. Temperatures dropped well below zero, but Tundra was in his element. He töltted effortlessly through deep snow, his wide hooves acting as snowshoes. At night, he'd stand contentedly by the tent, his thick coat frosting over. One morning, I woke to find him lying curled in the snow like a dog, perfectly warm and happy. He redefined my understanding of what horses could endure and enjoy.
🐾 Favorite Things
Tundra loved his unique tölt gait covering ground quickly, shaggy winter coat making him yak-like, snow and cold weather, and being the hardy majesty of winter adventures.

Celebrating an Icelandic horse whose thick coat, sturdy build, and unique tölt gait made winter riding a cozy adventure.
Tundra was built for cold. An Icelandic horse with a shaggy winter coat that made him look like a yak, he was compact, strong, and endlessly hardy. His most remarkable feature was his tölt—a smooth, four-beat gait that allowed him to cover ground quickly and comfortably. He loved snow and cold weather, thriving when other horses shivered. The winter trails miss the distinctive, rapid rhythm of his tölt on packed snow, the sight of his furry form puffing steam in the cold air.
