Oak's Ancient Wisdom
Life Details
Honoring an old grade gelding whose grizzled muzzle and calm eyes held the wisdom of many trails and changing seasons.
Oak earned his name from his strength and longevity. A brown gelding of indeterminate breeding, he was already old when we got him, his back slightly swayed, his muzzle grizzled with white. He moved slowly, deliberately, as if conserving energy for what mattered. He wasn't ridden much in his final years, but his presence was a comfort. He'd stand at the fence, watching the world with calm, knowing eyes. The barn has lost its elder statesman, its living history book. The quiet corner where he dozed in the sun is just a patch of light now.
