Breeze's Summer Whisper

Breeze was summer incarnate. A buckskin with a dark mane and tail and a golden coat, she had a lazy, ambling walk that could cover ground without effort. Her canter was like rocking on waves. She had a special tolerance for heat and flies, standing patiently while other horses fussed. Riding her on a summer evening, with fireflies blinking and her hooves whispering through tall grass, was pure therapy. The pasture feels hotter now, missing her standing calmly in the shade of the big oak, swishing her tail rhythmically. The summer rides lack their easy, cooling rhythm.
