❤️ Nature & Soul
Blaze was athletic, courageous, and deeply sensitive. He gave 110% every time, which was both his strength and his challenge. He trusted his rider implicitly on cross-country, but needed reassurance in the dressage ring. His personality was like his sport—a mix of explosive power, precise technique, and raw bravery. He wasn't an easy horse, but he was a great one. The partnership was hard-won and therefore precious.
⭐ Special Memory
Our pinnacle moment was completing our first Preliminary level event. The cross-country course was massive, the dressage test demanding. Blaze was perfect. On the final show jumping round, clear rounds would secure a top placing. He jumped flawlessly, ears pinned in concentration. As we crossed the finish, I hugged his sweaty neck, tears in my eyes. He had grown from a nervous ex-racer to a confident event horse, and I had grown with him. The ribbon was secondary to that journey of mutual transformation.
🐾 Favorite Things
Blaze loved flying over solid cross-country obstacles, his bold white blaze marking his fiery trail, eventing challenges, and the tender partnership beneath competitive fire.

No Reminder

Remembering a chestnut Thoroughbred with a bold white blaze whose competitive fire and tender heart defined a decade of eventing.

Blaze was aptly named—a bright chestnut with a wide, white blaze that ran the length of his face like a streak of lightning. An off-the-track Thoroughbred, he channeled his racing energy into eventing. He was brave to a fault cross-country, flying over solid obstacles without hesitation. In the dressage arena, he could be tense, but when he relaxed, he was elegant. The cross-country course feels less alive without his red coat flashing through the woods, the water complex missing his powerful splash. His stall, once filled with eventing gear, is now just a quiet box.
