❤️ Nature & Soul
Rusty was confident, willing, and incredibly hardy. He had a strong work ethic and seemed to take pride in a job well done. He was friendly to everyone, human or equine. He was clever, sometimes too much so—he could open most stall doors. His personality was like a reliable old truck—dependable, strong, and always ready for an adventure. He was the horse who built our confidence, who never said no, who was up for anything. He was the heart of our horse experience.
⭐ Special Memory
The memory that sums up Rusty is the county fair. One year, he did it all: morning parade pulling a vintage cart, afternoon Western pleasure class, evening trail course. Between events, he'd doze in his stall, then wake up eager for the next task. He won ribbons, but more importantly, he charmed everyone with his bright eyes and perky ears. That night, tired but content, he ate his grain while I braided his tail. He represented the pure joy of partnership—the idea that a horse could be your teammate in everything.
🐾 Favorite Things
Rusty loved his loud distinctive whinny announcing presence, versatile work in parade, trail, and cart, eager loading for adventures, and being the hearty foundation of family equestrian life.

Honoring a chestnut Morgan whose versatility and hearty spirit made him the foundation of our family's equestrian life.

Rusty was the horse who did it all. A sturdy Morgan with a rich chestnut coat and a thick, dark mane, he was as comfortable in a parade as on a mountain trail, in a driving cart as under an English saddle. He had boundless energy and a 'can-do' attitude. His trot was brisk and businesslike, his canter cheerful. He had a distinctive, loud whinny that could be heard a mile away, always announcing his presence. The barn feels muted without his vocal greetings, the trailer empty without his eager loading. His harness hangs clean and still, missing his willing shoulders to pull it.
