❤️ Nature & Soul
Willow was the essence of maternal patience. She was kind, forgiving, and possessed a sixth sense for fear. She would deliberately slow her pace for nervous riders and speed up slightly for confident ones. She was stoic, never complaining about arthritis or the cold. She showed affection through soft nudges and by resting her head against your chest. Her personality was like a comfortable old sweater—worn, familiar, and radiating warmth and security. She taught more than riding
⭐ Special Memory
Willow's emergency brake was her greatest teaching tool - when a child became unbalanced, she would simply stop and lower her head to graze, creating a safe pause that allowed recovery without drama or fear.
🐾 Favorite Things
Willow loved her patient plodding circles in the lesson ring, teaching children with gentle encouragement, her soft whiskery muzzle nudges, and being the cornerstone of our riding program.

Honoring an old Appaloosa mare whose speckled coat and wise eyes told stories of many trails and gentle lessons taught.

Willow came to us as a rescue, her spotted coat bearing the scars of neglect, but her eyes held a deep, unbroken wisdom. An Appaloosa in her late twenties, she moved with the careful grace of someone who knows their own bones. She became the lesson program's cornerstone, the horse who taught hundreds of children to post, to steer, to love. She had a special 'emergency brake'—if a child became unbalanced, she'd simply stop and lower her head to graze until they recovered. Her soft, whiskery muzzle and the unique blanket pattern of her rump were fixtures of our stable. The lesson ring feels different now, missing her patient, plodding circles and the way she'd look back at a struggling rider with what seemed like encouragement.
