❤️ Nature & Soul
Pebble was food-motivated, calm, and interactive. He learned his name and would come to the front of his tank when called (especially if holding a treat). He enjoyed exploring the living room during supervised outings. His personality was one of reptilian contentment. He was the ideal beginner's large lizard—hardy, friendly, and full of character without being demanding.
⭐ Special Memory
The most endearing memory is of him 'begging' for food. He'd stand up on his short legs, propping his front on the glass, and follow me with his eyes as I moved around the kitchen. If I opened the refrigerator (where his cat food was kept), he'd become especially animated, his tongue flicking rapidly. It was clear association and anticipation, a sign of his intelligence and love for mealtime.
🐾 Favorite Things
Belly rubs, warm laps, aspen bedding, blue tongue displays, refrigerator anticipation

1 day before

A tribute to a blue-tongue skink whose sturdy body, surprising intelligence, and affectionate nature made him the perfect reptile companion.

Pebble was a sausage with legs and a blue surprise. A northern blue-tongue skink, his body was long, heavy, and covered in smooth, patterned scales. He moved with a slow, determined waddle. His most famous feature was his bright blue tongue, which he'd flash when excited or defensive. He was remarkably tame, enjoying belly rubs and falling asleep on warm laps. The terrarium is missing the sound of his heavy body moving across aspen bedding, the soft hiss of his blue-tongue display, and his eager approach at feeding time.
