Kismet was alert, fast, and could be skittish. With patient, consistent handling, she became calmer. She required high humidity and UVB lighting. Her personality was one of arboreal awareness—always observing, calculating distances, ready to leap. She was a beautiful, active lizard that brought a piece of Southeast Asian rainforest into our home.

⭐ Special Memory

The most spectacular memory is of her catching a cricket mid-air. The cricket jumped from a leaf; Kismet, from her perch several inches away, launched herself, caught the cricket in her mouth, and landed gracefully on another branch, all in one fluid motion. It was a display of athletic precision that left me breathless, a perfect moment of predator-prey interaction in a glass box.

Honoring a Chinese water dragon whose arboreal elegance and prehistoric appearance made her a centerpiece of the reptile room.

Kismet was a miniature dinosaur from the canopy. A Chinese water dragon with vibrant green scales, a crest along her back, and a long, whip-like tail, she was built for life in trees near water. Her enclosure was tall, with branches over a large water feature. She was an expert jumper, leaping between perches with accuracy. The vivarium is a static forest now, missing the splash as she dove into her pool, the sight of her basking with her throat pouch extended, and her graceful climbs to the highest branches.
