❤️ Nature & Soul
Flicker was bold, intelligent, and full of 'big bird' attitude. He was territorial over his cage but affectionate with his chosen person. He enjoyed learning tricks for millet rewards. His personality was huge for his tiny body—fearless, loud, and deeply engaging. He was proof that the size of the fight in the bird had nothing to do with the size of the bird in the fight.
⭐ Special Memory
The funniest memory is of him 'protecting' me from the vacuum cleaner. He'd puff up to twice his size, spread his wings, and dive-bomb the vacuum, landing on it and pecking at the hose. He'd ride it as it moved, a tiny, angry green knight jousting with a mechanical dragon. His bravery in the face of a monster a hundred times his size was both hilarious and touching.
🐾 Favorite Things
Shoulder rides, hair hiding, millet treats, perch zooming, vacuum cleaner challenges

Remembering a Pacific parrotlet whose small size held a giant personality, full of feisty courage and surprising vocabulary.

Flicker was a spark in feathered form. A Pacific parrotlet, tiny and vibrant green with hints of blue, he believed he was an eagle. He'd fearlessly challenge larger birds (through cage bars) and dogs. He learned to talk, his tiny voice producing clear phrases like 'Step up!' and 'Good bird!' He loved to ride on shoulders and hide in hair. The room is too safe now, missing his zooming flights from perch to perch, his angry chitters when displeased, and the soft weight of him sleeping tucked against a neck.
