❤️ Nature & Soul
Nova was ephemeral, delicate, and a creature of pure magic. His needs were simple: moisture, some sugar food, and darkness to display his light. He wasn't a pet in the traditional sense, but a temporary guest who taught us about one of nature's most beautiful phenomena. His 'personality' was his light pattern—a Morse code of life seeking connection in the dark.
⭐ Special Memory
The most magical memory is of a power outage one summer night. The house was dark, and we brought Nova's terrarium into the living room. In the complete darkness, his flashes were the only light, creating tiny, green stars in the blackness. It turned an inconvenience into an enchanting experience, a reminder that wonder can be found in small, living things.
🐾 Favorite Things
Sugar water, darkness, bioluminescent flashes, planted terrarium, dusk observations

Remembering a flashing firefly whose brief, glowing life in a specialized terrarium brought wonder to summer nights indoors.

Nova was a captured star. A common eastern firefly (Photinus pyralis), we kept him for just a short time in a large, planted terrarium to observe his bioluminescence. His body was dark with yellow margins, but his true beauty came out at dusk: a controlled, chemical glow from his lower abdomen. We'd feed him sugar water and watch his silent light shows. The jar we used for temporary observation is empty now, missing the magical, intermittent greenish-yellow flashes that lit up a dark room, a private piece of a summer night brought inside.
