Sprocket was a mind with wings. An African grey parrot with stunning scarlet tail feathers and intelligent, knowing eyes, his capacity for language and understanding was humbling. He didn't just mimic; he used words in context. He'd say 'Hello' when someone entered, 'Want shower?' when the spray bottle appeared, and 'I love you' at bedtime. His cage was a complex environment of puzzles and toys. The house feels intellectually emptier now, missing our conversations, his laughter, his whistled tunes, and the weight of his serious, feathered presence on a play stand.
