❤️ Nature & Soul
Sprocket was clever, affectionate, and deeply social. He formed strong bonds with both his rat companions and his humans. He was brave, exploring new environments with cautious curiosity. He learned several tricks, including fetching a small ball. His personality shattered 'rat' stereotypes; he was clean, loving, and demonstrated clear empathy, often comforting cagemates or his human when sad.
⭐ Special Memory
The most astounding memory was during a rat-agility course I set up. Sprocket not only completed the prescribed route (jumps, tunnels, seesaw) faster than any other rat, but he then started improvising, taking shortcuts he'd deduced were more efficient. When I changed the course, he'd pause, study it, then execute it perfectly on the first try. It wasn't just training; it was evidence of genuine reasoning and adaptability.
🐾 Favorite Things
Yogurt drops, shoulder rides, maze puzzles, treat drawers, agility courses

Honoring a rat whose intelligence, social nature, and dexterous paws challenged every preconception about rodents.

Sprocket was a tiny genius in a rat suit. An agouti hooded rat with bright pink eyes and whiskers that never stopped twitching, he was the problem-solver of his mischief. He learned his name, came when called, and could navigate complex mazes for yogurt drops. He groomed his human fingers with gentle nibbles and loved riding on shoulders. The rat cage is too quiet now, missing the soft chittering of rat conversations, the playful wrestling, and the intelligent, curious gaze from Sprocket as he figured out how to open the treat drawer.
