❤️ Nature & Soul
Nugget was solitary, busy, and delightfully focused on his hamster-sized priorities: food, sleep, and wheel time. He tolerated gentle handling but was always eager to return to his projects. He built elaborate, multi-chambered nests from torn-up paper towels. His personality was one of independent industry. He didn't need constant interaction; his value was in being a perfect, self-contained example of rodent life, observed with wonder.
⭐ Special Memory
The sweetest memory is of my child falling asleep to the sound of Nugget's wheel. On difficult nights, the rhythmic, steady squeak was a comforting, living white noise. Sometimes I'd peek in and see my child asleep, one hand near the cage, and Nugget on his wheel, running his endless, silent miles. It was a perfect picture of childhood comfort: a small, dependable creature going about its business, providing silent companionship in the dark.
🐾 Favorite Things
Silent spinner wheel, paper towels for nesting, cheek pouches, food stashing, burrow digging

1 day before

Remembering a golden Syrian hamster whose nightly wheel marathons and cheek-stuffing antics brought simple, wholesome joy.

Nugget was a furry, golden potato with legs. A long-haired Syrian hamster, he was a creature of the night. As the house settled, his world awoke: the steady *squeak-squeak-squeak* of his silent spinner wheel beginning its hours-long marathon. He'd emerge from his burrow, stuff his expandable cheek pouches with food until he looked like a chipmunk, then disappear to stash it all in a secret chamber. The nighttime is too quiet now, missing the sounds of his industrious digging, the rustle of bedding, and the sight of him sitting up, tiny hands cleaning his whiskers.
