❤️ Nature & Soul
Fizz was bold, intelligent, and full of attitude. He recognized his primary caregiver and would swim to the front glass when they approached, begging for food. He had hunting strategies, often herding snails into corners. His personality defied fish stereotypes; he was an individual with clear preferences and moods. He was a reminder that intelligence comes in many forms, even in a brain the size of a pea.
⭐ Special Memory
The most remarkable memory was watching him 'solve' a feeding puzzle. I put a snail inside a small, transparent jar with holes in the lid, then placed it in the tank. Fizz circled it, pecked at the holes, then actually pushed the jar against the tank wall to tilt it, trying to get the snail to slide out. After 15 minutes of determined effort, he succeeded. The look of triumph (as much as a fish can look triumphant) was clear. He was a tiny, persistent genius.
🐾 Favorite Things
Snails, anubias leaves, hunting puzzles, jet-like swimming, tank patrols

Honoring a freshwater pufferfish whose expressive eyes and individual personality transformed a simple aquarium into a scene of aquatic drama.

Fizz was a grumpy balloon with fins. A pea puffer, tiny but mighty, he patrolled his planted tank with territorial intensity, his independently moving eyes scanning for snails—his preferred prey. He'd puff up slightly when excited or annoyed, though never to the dangerous extent seen in wild puffers. The tank is too peaceful now, missing the sudden, jet-like bursts of speed as he hunted, the way he'd watch us from his favorite anubias leaf, and the distinctive 'personality' that made him more like a water puppy than a fish.
