He was playful and bright, with a funny, rolling gait that conveyed determination. The memory that encapsulates Max is his 'couch launch.' Despite his short legs, he had a running leap to get onto the sofa. If you were sitting there, he wouldn't just jump up; he would aim his leap so he landed directly in your lap, a warm, sudden weight of pure affection.
