She sat at windows during sunset, watching shadows grow long. Her eyes reflected the fading light in a way that felt mesmerizing. Afterward, she curled beside us, seeking warmth and connection. Twilight still brings her memory close, a reminder of quiet moments shared.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Nova was a creature of dusk—a ruddy Abyssinian with a ticked coat that seemed to capture and reflect the last light of day. She was energetic and curious during daylight hours, but as evening approached, she would settle into observation mode. She had a particular fascination with the transition from day to night, watching the sky change colors with focused attention. She was intelligent and active, needing plenty of stimulation, but twilight seemed to calm her energetic spirit. She had a soft, chirping voice she used mostly during these hours, as if commenting on the day's end. She was affectionate but on her own terms, often choosing to sit near rather than on us during these quiet times, sharing the moment without demanding attention.
⭐ Special Memory
Nova's twilight ritual was what we called 'The Color Watch.' As the sun set, she would move from window to window in the house, following the changing light. She had a particular window for the golden hour, another for when the sky turned pink, another for when stars began to appear. If we tried to turn on lights before she was ready, she would meow in protest. We started delaying turning on lights until she had completed her circuit and curled up with us, as if she needed to properly witness the day's end. Those twilight hours, sitting in the growing dark with Nova, became some of our most peaceful family times.
🐾 Favorite Things
Nova loved chasing toys that mimicked the movement of insects or birds. She was fascinated by the first stars appearing in the evening sky and would watch them through the window. Her favorite thing was sleeping on a cushion by the window where she could watch both the sunset and the moonrise, her ticked coat seeming to hold the last light of day even as night fell, a living bridge between day and night.
