While we slept, he patrolled the house with silent precision, checking windows, doors, and familiar spots. He wasn't destructive in his explorations; he was a guardian of the night, ensuring all was well in his domain. During the day, he was affectionate but reserved, but at night, he came into his own—a shadow with purpose, moving through the darkness with a confidence that was both mysterious and comforting.

Soot's midnight patrols became our special memory.
