📋 A Gentle Beginning
A tribute to a Finch whose delicate build, soft colors, and quiet, busy life in a flock was a lesson in simple, communal existence.
📝 Moments & Memories
Use this space to share your companion’s story in your own words. You may write about their personality, favorite moments, the bond you shared, or anything you feel captures who they were and what they meant to you. There is no right or wrong way to write this - take your time and speak from the heart.
Thistle was a tiny piece of a larger whole. A Zebra Finch with typical tawny, gray, and white markings, he was one of a small flock. His life was a cycle of eating, bathing, preening, flying short distances, and soft social chirping with his companions. He wasn't an individual pet in the hand-held sense, but his contribution to the peaceful, busy micro-society of the finch cage was valuable. His loss was felt by his flockmates and by us as a subtle shift in the cage's harmony.
❤️ Nature & Soul
As a flock bird, Thistle's personality was observed within the group. He was an average member—not the most dominant, not the most shy. He was social, often seen preening or being preened by a mate or friend. He was active and enjoyed flying short laps in the aviary. His demeanor was typically finch-like: busy, social, and focused on the routines of flock life.
⭐ Special Memory
The finches had a favorite swing. Thistle was often the one to 'test' it after cleaning. He would hop on, give a few experimental swings, and then let out a specific chirp. That chirp seemed to signal 'all clear' or 'fun!' to the others, who would then flock to the swing. It was a small but clear example of his role and communication within the flock.
🐾 Favorite Things
Thistle loved nesting material, carrying bits of grass or feathers in his beak. He enjoyed bathing in a communal bath with the other finches. His favorite thing was a spray of millet; he would eat alongside his flockmates in a cheerful, pecking row.
