📋 A Gentle Beginning
A tribute to a Bronze-Winged Pionus whose unusual, beautiful copper and bronze plumage and calm, sweet nature was a treasure.
📝 Moments & Memories

Rusty was a jewel-toned gentleman. A Bronze-Winged Pionus, his colors were stunning—deep blue head, bronze wings, and red under-tail coverts. He was known for being one of the quieter, calmer parrot species, and he lived up to that. He was sweet, not overly demanding, and enjoyed quiet interaction. His beauty was exotic, but his heart was that of a gentle companion.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Rusty was calm, sweet, and gentle. He was not a loud or flashy parrot. He enjoyed being out of his cage and sitting on a playstand, observing. He was affectionate in a quiet way, enjoying head scratches and gentle petting. He was not a big talker but made soft, pleasant chirping sounds. He was easy-going and adaptable, making him a wonderful companion bird for a quieter home.
⭐ Special Memory
Rusty had a unique way of showing excitement. When he saw his favorite person after an absence, he wouldn't scream or fly. Instead, he would fluff up all his feathers, making himself look like a beautiful, spiky bronze and blue puffball, and make a soft, almost purring sound while rapidly blinking his eyes. It was a subdued but deeply affectionate greeting.
🐾 Favorite Things
Rusty loved foraging in a box full of shredded paper for nuts. He enjoyed chewing on pine cones. His favorite treat was a grape; he would hold it carefully, puncture it, and then lick out the sweet interior.
