📋 A Gentle Beginning
A tribute to a Green-Cheeked Conure whose love for hiding in and chewing on houseplants made her a part of the indoor jungle.
📝 Moments & Memories
Use this space to share your companion’s story in your own words. You may write about their personality, favorite moments, the bond you shared, or anything you feel captures who they were and what they meant to you. There is no right or wrong way to write this - take your time and speak from the heart.
Fern was our botanical bird. A Green-Cheeked Conure, she seemed to believe she was a type of mobile, noisy plant. She loved to hide among the leaves of our ficus tree, popping her head out to chirp. She also loved to gently (and sometimes not-so-gently) sample the leaves. Her green feathers camouflaged her perfectly. The plants now feel like a stage without its star performer.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Fern was playful, curious, and mischievous. She had a strong instinct to be among foliage. She was less cuddly than some conures but showed affection by including you in her plant explorations—landing on you if you were near her favorite plants. She was active and enjoyed climbing and chewing. She had a variety of chirps and seemed to have a game-like relationship with her environment.
⭐ Special Memory
We installed a large, sturdy pothos plant in a hanging pot near her cage. Fern immediately claimed it as her secondary home. She would spend hours climbing through the vines, hiding behind leaves, and taking tiny, careful nibbles (we ensured all plants were safe). Watching her natural behaviors expressed in a domestic setting was a constant joy.
🐾 Favorite Things
Fern loved stripping the bark off of small branches we'd put in her cage. She enjoyed bathing by rubbing against wet plant leaves after we misted them. Her favorite thing was a fresh hibiscus flower; she would shred the petals with delight.
