📋 A Gentle Beginning
A tribute to a Nanday Conure whose loud, raucous calls and vibrant green body with a black head made him a wild-looking, energetic character.
📝 Moments & Memories
Use this space to share your companion’s story in your own words.
You may write about their personality, favorite moments, the bond you shared, or anything you feel captures who they were and what they meant to you. There is no right or wrong way to write this - take your time and speak from the heart.
Canyon was a noisy burst of jungle energy. A Nanday Conure with a black head and bright green body, his calls were not songs but loud, attention-grabbing shrieks. He was incredibly social, demanding to be part of everything. He was playful, affectionate, and messy. His presence was impossible to ignore. The silence after his passing is stark and almost unsettling in its completeness.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Canyon was loud, social, and demanding. He had a big personality and wanted to be the center of attention. He was highly affectionate with his flock (the family) and could be jealous of attention given to others. He was playful and enjoyed roughhousing games. He was not a bird for a quiet household; he thrived on activity and interaction. His emotions were expressed at full volume.
⭐ Special Memory
Canyon had a morning ritual we called 'The Roll Call.' Upon waking, he would fly to each family member's doorway (if doors were open) or perch, look at them, and give a specific, short call. Once he had 'checked in' with everyone and received a verbal reply ('Good morning, Canyon!'), he would settle down contentedly. If someone was still in bed, he'd keep calling until they responded. It was his way of making sure his whole flock was accounted for.
🐾 Favorite Things
Canyon loved throwing his toys off tables and watching them fall. He enjoyed 'helping' with paperwork by chewing the edges. His favorite thing was a piece of orange; he would get the juice everywhere, turning his beak orange, and look terribly pleased with himself.
