Jade was a little green general. She took her cage and the immediate area around it very seriously, guarding it from perceived threats (like the other pets or new objects). She was a good talker, with phrases often related to her guard duty ('Who's there?' 'Mine!'). Beyond her territoriality, she was actually quite sweet with her chosen person, enjoying head scratches. Her loud alarms and serious demeanor were both comic and endearing.

❤️ Nature & Soul

Jade was territorial, intelligent, and vocal. She was deeply bonded to one person and tolerant of others. She took her guarding role seriously and would alarm-call at anything new or suspicious. She was a clever talker and enjoyed interactive games that involved her vocabulary. She could be stubborn and demanding. With her person, she was affectionate and enjoyed physical interaction.

⭐ Special Memory

We brought home a new, large potted plant and placed it near her cage. Jade eyed it suspiciously for an hour. Then she flew over, landed on it, and systematically began 'interrogating' it, poking her beak into the soil, nibbling a leaf, and saying 'Hello? Hello?' over and over. After ten minutes, she seemed to decide it was not a threat, flew back to her cage, and said, 'Good plant.' We laughed for days.

🐾 Favorite Things

Jade loved building and defending her nest (even without a mate). She enjoyed dunking dry pellet food in her water dish before eating it. His favorite thing was having her head scratched while she was in her cage doorway, surveying her kingdom.
