📋 A Gentle Beginning
A tribute to a Cockatiel whose favorite activity was whistling elaborate, made-up tunes with great seriousness and volume.
📝 Moments & Memories
Use this space to share your companion’s story in your own words. You may write about their personality, favorite moments, the bond you shared, or anything you feel captures who they were and what they meant to you. There is no right or wrong way to write this - take your time and speak from the heart.
Piper believed he was a virtuoso. A pied cockatiel, he would spend hours each day perched at his highest spot, chest puffed out, whistling long, intricate tunes that he seemed to compose on the spot. They weren't mimicry; they were original works. He took his whistling very seriously, stopping only if interrupted. His concerts were a fixture of our home life. The house is now a concert hall without its star performer.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Piper was focused, proud, and musical. His personality was centered around his whistling. He was not overly cuddly but enjoyed being near people as if they were his audience. He could get annoyed if loud noises interrupted his performances. He was a creature of habit, whistling at the same times each day. He showed affection by whistling a special, shorter tune when his favorite person entered the room.
⭐ Special Memory
Piper had a 'rivalry' with the grandfather clock. When the clock would chime on the hour, Piper would immediately stop his current tune, listen to the chimes, and then whistle back a complex, almost argumentative variation on the clock's melody, as if saying, 'I can do better than that!' This musical dialogue happened every hour he was awake.
🐾 Favorite Things
Piper loved shredding cardboard tubes. He enjoyed looking at himself in a reflective baking tray (it distorted his image, which seemed to fascinate him). His favorite thing was after a whistling session; he would take a long, deep drink of water, as if hydrating after a performance.
