📋 A Gentle Beginning
A tribute to a Bourke's Parakeet whose soft, rosy-pink plumage and tranquil nature was a living pastel sunrise.

Penny was a whisper of color. A Bourke's Parakeet, her colors were soft pinks, blues, and browns, like a dawn sky. She was crepuscular, most active at dawn and dusk, flying with soft, moth-like flutters in her aviary. She was quiet, emitting only soft, melodic tweets. Her peaceful, gentle energy was the opposite of a typical parrot's boisterousness. She was a bird to be appreciated for her subtle beauty and calm demeanor. Losing her felt like losing a particularly soft and beautiful piece of the morning.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Penny was gentle, quiet, and somewhat shy. She was not a hands-on bird but enjoyed the company of her own kind in a flight aviary. She was most active during low-light periods, displaying a soft, fluttering flight. She was peaceful and non-confrontational with other birds. Her demeanor was consistently calm and subdued. She seemed to appreciate a stable, predictable environment and gentle handling from her caretakers during necessary interactions.
⭐ Special Memory
Watching the aviary at dusk was magical because of Penny. As the light turned golden, she would become active, flying soft, looping laps around the enclosure. Her pink feathers would glow in the sunset light, and her soft calls would mingle with the evening sounds. It was a daily, beautiful performance of gentle avian grace that required quiet observation to appreciate fully.
🐾 Favorite Things
Penny loved foraging for small seeds in a tray of dry leaves and sand. She enjoyed taking dust baths in fine sand. Her favorite thing was a spray of seeding grass; she would cling to it and meticulously pick out the tiny seeds.
