📋 A Gentle Beginning
A tribute to a Pacific Parrotlet whose blue feathers held the cool fire of a gemstone and whose personality sparkled just as brightly.

Sapphire was a living jewel. A stunning blue Pacific Parrotlet, she caught the light in a way that made her seem lit from within. But her beauty was matched by her sassy, confident spirit. She was tiny but mighty, ruling her domain with an iron will and a cheerful chirp. She was clever, learning to call the dog for fun and then hide. Her affection was earned and therefore precious; her gentle preening of a fingertip was the highest compliment. Her sudden illness was a shock, like a light going out without warning. This memorial is for our blue dynamo, whose brief, brilliant life reminded us that the brightest flames sometimes burn the quickest.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Sapphire was fiercely independent, bold, and playful. She had no fear, investigating everything from cats (from a safe distance) to vacuum cleaners. She was a skilled escape artist and loved exploring tabletops, pushing pens off edges. She was vocal, with a variety of chirps expressing everything from curiosity to indignation. While not overly cuddly, she showed affection by following her favorite person from room to room and accepting head scratches on her terms. She had a mischievous sense of humor and seemed to enjoy causing a little chaos.
⭐ Special Memory
Sapphire was fascinated by water in a way that was unique. She didn't just bathe; she 'surfed.' We'd put a shallow dish of water on the table, and she would hop in, fluff up, then use her wings to scoot herself in a circle around the dish, chirping with delight. She'd repeat this over and over, creating a tiny whirlpool. It was a ridiculous and adorable display of pure, uninhibited joy.
🐾 Favorite Things
Sapphire loved pushing small, round objects like beads or peas across smooth surfaces. She enjoyed climbing window screens. Her favorite treat was a tiny piece of walnut; she would hold it in one foot and nibble it with intense concentration, making happy 'crunch' sounds.
