Zephyr was a hurricane in a teacup. A brilliant green parrotlet, he possessed the confidence and ferocity of a bird ten times his size. He didn't just fly; he executed aerial maneuvers with playful daring, banking around corners and hovering mid-air to assess a situation. He was fiercely independent, treating the entire house as his domain, yet paradoxically demanded constant attention on his own terms. He had a big personality packed into a body small enough to fit in a teacup—feisty, intelligent, and utterly charming. His sudden absence has left the air strangely still; no more green blur zipping past, no more indignant chirps if dinner was late. This memorial is for our tiny emperor, who ruled our hearts with a blend of might and mischief.
❤️ Nature & Soul
Zephyr was bold, bossy, and brilliant. He had no concept of being small. He would fearlessly chase away much larger birds from the window feeder and assert his ownership over all toys, food, and human attention. He was highly intelligent, learning to open his cage latch and solve simple puzzle toys for treats. His mood was transparent: cheerful, ear-piercing chirps when happy, low growls when displeased. He was a one-person bird, forming an intense bond with his chosen human, tolerating others with regal indifference. Despite his feistiness, he could be incredibly sweet, falling asleep in a hand or gently preening a finger.
⭐ Special Memory
Zephyr invented a game he loved more than anything: 'Attack the Sock.' If someone was putting on or taking off socks, he would dive-bomb from across the room, land on the foot, and wrestle the sock with furious, playful determination, growling and chirping all the while. It was impossible not to laugh at his serious commitment to this ridiculous battle. He'd eventually subdue the sock, stand triumphantly on it, and puff out his chest as if he'd slain a dragon.
🐾 Favorite Things
Zephyr loved climbing ropes and dangling from them upside-down. He was obsessed with popping the bubbles on bubble wrap. His favorite thing was sunflower seeds, which he would crack open with impressive efficiency, discarding the shells with a dramatic flick of his head.
