Glide and her school were elegant, peaceful, and beautifully contrasted. Their black skirts lengthened with age. They schooled with graceful coordination. Their personality was one of elegant contrast—creatures whose beauty came from opposition of light and dark, movement and stillness.

⭐ Special Memory

The most elegant memory is watching them in slow motion on video. We filmed them and played back in slow motion. Their fin movements became liquid silk flowing through water, their turns balletic. This revealed beauty invisible at normal speed, hidden elegance in everyday swimming.

Glide led our school of black skirt tetras, fish with dramatic black skirts on their anal fins that flowed behind them. Their silver bodies contrasted beautifully with the black. They moved with elegant coordination. The tank has lost its elegant skirts now, missing their flowing fin movements, the silver-black contrast, and the coordinated elegance they provided.
