His personality was one of evolved beauty—a creature whose appearance served biological functions while providing human observers with breathtaking visuals.

The most beautiful memory is watching his scales under moving light. As he turned, different scales would catch light at different angles, creating a rippling effect of color change across his body. It was like watching living opal move through water.

Celebrating a Congo tetra whose iridescent scales and flowing fins brought African river beauty to our tank.

Flash was a male Congo tetra with incredibly iridescent scales that shifted from blue to gold to green depending on angle. His flowing fin extensions made him look dressed for a gala. He'd display to females with fin flares. The tank has lost its living jewel now, missing his color shifts, the elegant fin displays, and the African river beauty he represented.
