❤️ Nature & Soul
Boulder was peaceful, industrious, and built like a tank. He had favorite hiding spots and cleaning routes. He was mostly nocturnal but would emerge during daytime feedings. His personality was one of ancient endurance—a creature whose basic design had survived millions of years, now performing its algae-cleaning service in a glass box.
⭐ Special Memory
The most memorable sound was his rasping on driftwood at night. In the quiet house, we could hear the gentle scraping as he cleaned the wood. This nighttime sound became part of our home's auditory landscape, a reminder that life continued in the dark tank while we slept.
🐾 Favorite Things
Driftwood, algae wafers, zucchini slices

Remembering a plecostomus whose armored body and nocturnal habits connected us to prehistoric times.
Boulder was a common pleco who grew to 10 inches in our 75-gallon tank. His armored plates and sucker mouth made him look like a miniature dinosaur. He'd cling to driftwood and glass, cleaning algae with rasping movements. At night, he'd become active, moving with surprising grace for such an armored fish. The tank feels less ancient now, missing his prehistoric appearance, the sound of his rasping on wood, and the connection to deep evolutionary history he provided.
