Shimmer was calm, observant, and a natural leader of her school. The silver dollars moved with gentle coordination, their large bodies moving gracefully through water. They were easily spooked but generally peaceful. Their personality was one of gentle grandeur—large fish with small demands, creating movement and scale in our aquatic display.

⭐ Special Memory

The most impressive memory is watching the school react to their own reflections on the tank's side during cleaning. When we'd remove background posters for maintenance, they'd see their reflections and school tightly, flashing silver as they turned from the 'intruders.' It was a beautiful display of natural schooling behavior.

Celebrating a school of silver dollars whose flashing sides and peaceful grazing made our large tank feel complete.

Shimmer led our school of silver dollar fish, large disc-shaped fish with reflective silver sides that flashed like mirrors when they turned. They'd graze on plants (we gave them specific plants they liked) and swim in loose formation. Their size and calm movements gave our 125-gallon tank a sense of scale and completeness. The big tank feels unbalanced now, missing their impressive size, the mirror flashes when they turned as one, and the gentle giant presence they provided.
